My name is Wan-Ju Chen. I am in my second year in the Master of Management of Information System program at Metropolitan State University. I graduated with an MIS major in Taiwan and worked for a while to gain experience, which led to my decision to pursue a higher degree. Fortunately, I attended an information session and found Metropolitan State University not only offers affordable tuition but also a decent class size that allows good interaction with professors and other students. The students in my program are mostly working adults and I enjoy working with them in group projects and hearing their perspectives and insights.

“In the master program itself, students can choose either an information management path or a system development path. In addition, the program offers numerous certificate programs based on current market needs.”

Some examples of the certificate programs are general MIS specialist, information assurance, database administration, and healthcare IT programs.

Unlike most computer science courses, MIS program offers a managerial perspective on computer systems versus a focus on technical skills. The courses provide knowledge of managing IT systems in a comprehensive and efficient way no matter which IT path interests you.
