What Is the Difference In Two Year Degree Programs?
Associate of Arts or AA
Designed to transfer into liberal arts four-year majors.
AS – ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE
Usually science or tech based. Designed for transfer into a specific four-year major, with possible additional gen ed courses.
AAS – ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE
Two-year program designed for employment in a specific occupation. Not designed for transfer.
Associate of Fine Arts or AFA degree
Fine arts based. Designed to transfer in its entirety to at least one related baccalaureate degree.
