With women like Alexandra Brown and Stephanie Spann as part of the company’s leadership team, it’s no surprise that STEM Fuse has joined the Minnesota State IT Center of Excellence, in supporting the Aspirations in Computing Award Program as a Champion Partner who is actively leading the charge for gender equity in tech, and the state institution’s #MNGirlsDisruptTECH initiative.
At this year’s ceremony, 35 young women from across Minnesota high schools were recognized for their GRIT and achievements in technology. Along with being recognized, honorees were awarded prizes ranging from tech devices, scholarships, job shadowing and internship opportunities.
The Minnesota State – IT Center of Excellence and their many partners, including MHTA – WLiT, have teamed up to address gender equality in tech through specially curated programs focused on engaging and supporting young women’s interests in tech.
SPARCS is about Sustaining Passion, Ambition and Resolve for Career Success. The year-round program for young women aims to build excitement and inspire students to embrace technology education at the high school level, through relevant and engaging information technology (I.T.) learning experiences. Ultimately, SPARCS experiences are designed to inspire and empower Minnesota’s young women to become technology literate, confident and competent.
