Camp Explore is a residential overnight camp held at Winona State University. The program offers high school students the chance to try their hand at many different careers in science, technology, energy and medicine. It’s a one week hands-on program where students get a combination of real and simulated experiences.

A collaboration of the Minnesota State Centers of Excellence, Camp Explore gives students the chance to examine careers in:

  • Energy
  • Manufacturing & Engineering
  • Health Care
  • Agriculture
  • Transportation
  • Information Technology
  • And more!

After piloting Camp Explore in 2016 at Winona State University, the Centers of Excellence within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system will once again offer this camp and arrange professional and faculty interactions, simulations and site visits.

The $480 registration fee includes a $30 non-refundable processing fee and covers all housing, meals and instruction/programs/field trips.


Scholarship are based on completed applications and fund availability ($450 scholarships for the residential option, $350 scholarships for the non-residential option)..

New this year

Non-residential (day camp) option is available for local students for just $380. Program cost includes a $30 non-refundable processing fee and cover all meals and instruction/programs/field trips. After check-in day on Sunday, students will join residential students at 8:45am (Monday-Friday) and may leave campus after dinner, or choose to participate in evening recreational activities until 9pm.
