BDPA names Metropolitan State University & Advance IT Minnesota 2015 Community Supporter of the Year

January 8, 2016

The BDPA Community Supporter of the Year award acknowledges the efforts of a community organization that believes in and supports BDPA in its mission of increasing the participation of people of color in the I.T. field.

Advance IT Minnesota, a Center of Excellence in IT for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system and Metropolitan State University have supported BDPA for a number of years, providing in-kind resources and technology-equipped classrooms at their St. Paul campus.

Over the past few years, this support has allowed BDPA to train hundreds of Twin City area middle- and high-school students to learn in-demand technical skills while increasing their knowledge of career options in software engineering and technology.

Russell Fraenkel, Director of IT Career Pathways and Partnerships, Advance IT Minnesota, states, “BDPA-Twin Cities is an amazing volunteer organization that inspires and prepares students of color to become our next, best, Minnesota-grown technologists. MnSCU is honored to provide access to community facilities and resources to help make this happen. We’re firm believers and supporters of BDPA and delighted to have the opportunity to expose students to MnSCU programs that can strengthen their  skills, knowledge and readiness for Minnesota technology jobs and leadership.”

We are very happy to name Metropolitan State University & Advance IT Minnesota, part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, as our BDPA 2015 Community Supporter of the Year! -BDPA
